As announced earlier on RIPE Labs, the RIPE Database mobile application (called RIPE DB Mobile) has now been released. Please find more details in the article below.

At the RIPE 62 meeting in Amsterdam last week, we announced the availability of the RIPE NCC's very first mobile application, the RIPE Database Mobile Beta (the idea was presented earlier in the article RIPE Database Mobile Application ).

The beta mobile app is reachable from your mobile device at http://m.ripe.net and http://mobile.ripe.net and allows you to query the RIPE database and to locate Local Internet Registries (LIRs) nearby.

Just before the RIPE 62 Meeting, we added the locator functionality which allows you to locate LIRs on Google Maps. Also, if the result of your RIPE Database query contains a geocode-able address, you can locate that address on the map.

Furthermore, we have been very busy making it rock-solid and testing it on various modern mobile platforms like iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry. Now it's time for us to gather your feedback and incorporating it back into the application or perhaps develop new mobile web apps if there is a demand for it.

Under the link included below, you can download a movie that shows an iPhone, a Blackberry and an Android phone in action running the RIPE DB Mobile.

We are very curious what you think about this very first mobile application. Please leave some feedback also in the app itself.
