On the anniversary of the World IPv6 Launch, this article takes a look at the readiness of networks to deploy IPv6, using statistics from the RIPE NCC service region and beyond.
World IPv6 Launch
For World IPv6 Launch the RIPE NCC measured 60 selected participants from over 50 vantage points all over the world. In this article we present the DNS and HTTP measurement results from a 4-day period as a 3 minute movie. We will discuss general observations and look at some specific events.
As part of our Data Repository, the RIPE NCC has released a new dataset. This dataset contains DNS lookups (A+AAAA), ping/ping6, traceroute/traceroute6 and HTTP fetches (IPv4/IPv6) from 53 vantage points (TTM, CAIDA Ark and others) to 60 websites involved in World IPv6 Launch. The data covers the period from 2012-05-19T00:00 to 2012-06-18T00:00 (UTC).
Now that World IPv6 Launch is weeks behind us it's interesting to look at what long-lasting effects it had.
Following on from last year's during World IPv6 Day, we again looked at relative performance of IPv4 and IPv6 from the measurements we conducted. In this article we describe the methodology and the show the results of these measurements.
For World IPv6 Launch, the RIPE NCC offered a RIPEstat DNS widget. This article looks at the response to this offering.
Like last year during World IPv6 Day, the RIPE NCC has been doing various measurements during World IPv6 Launch on 6 June. We will publish the results in a series of articles on RIPE Labs.

RIPEstat has a new DNS widget for World IPv6 Launch. The widget can be included in any website where you'd like viewers to be able to perform IPv6 (and IPv4) DNS lookups or view your site's DNS details.
