We got a lot of useful feedback from the Information Services demo stand at RIPE59 in Lisbon and already implemented some of the suggestions. Find here a list of changes.
We got a lot of useful feedback from the Information Services demo stand at RIPE59 in Lisbon and already implemented some of the suggestions.
Some specific things you may notice:
- The connectivity health map now uses a higher granularity for loss between continents
- We've added clear loading indicators, informing you when the page is done loading
- The second time you load a page, loading is almost instant - we've added a cache, using memcached
We have also done some massive refactoring of the code, allowing us to develop new features much faster. Loading will be smoother as well, as we have made significant improvements in the loading mechanisms.
Behind the scenes, we are also working on a nice new feature: DNS lameness checking. This will allow you to see whether any of the name servers for your reverse delegations are unreachable or not properly responding. For this feature, we use data from the RIPE NCC DNS lameness checking effort that has been underway for quite some time. We have some running code for the lameness checks, but we still need quite some time to build a smooth user experience.
