For over two decades, the RIPE NCC has been delivering high-quality in-person training courses across our service region of 76 countries. But we don't do it alone! Here's a look at the crucial role hosts play in bringing new opportunities for learning and development to our members and local communities.
Creating opportunities to work and learn with our members face-to-face is an important objective for us, and just as we put a lot into arranging these courses, feedback suggests that participants get a lot out of them, consistently scoring them highest among the training services we offer.
While our RIPE NCC Academy webinars received an impressive Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 53 based on user feedback in 2024, participants on our in-person courses scored them at 82.
That said, organising in-person courses is a lot of work. There’s finding venues with the right space and facilities, getting the word out to potential attendees from the local community, picking the best topics for the audience, and making sure experts from our staff are on-site to lead sessions - all while keeping to a fixed budget. When you consider we run around 50 of these events each year, you get an idea of how much effort is involved.

With this in mind, a big part of what makes it possible for us to carry out as many in-person training courses as we do is the support we receive from local hosts - organisations from across our service region who provide venues for training events and help us engage much more effectively with members and local communities. It’s thanks to their help that we’re able to offer such a variety of in-person courses without exceeding our training budget.
2024: A Record year for hosted courses
In 2024, we exceeded all our goals in terms of in-person course delivery, including our goal to increase cooperation with local hosts. We travelled to 24 destinations (up from our target of 20), delivering a total of 54 courses. 32 of those courses were carried out across 14 locations made available to us thanks to the dedication of our hosts!

Looking at the numbers in terms of participation, the real payoff here is that we were able to carry out in-person training with 851 participants through the year.
Looking ahead: Call for 2025 hosts
As we plan for 2025, we are excited to announce that we are seeking hosts for the following destinations:
- UAE, Italy, Tajikistan, Hungary, Albania, UK, Slovenia, Iceland, France, Macedonia, Greece, Austria, Finland

Of the locations indicated here, we are glad to announce that hosts for upcoming training courses in Estonia and Uzbekistan in 2025 have already stepped forward.
Hosting a training course in your country provides not only exposure, but also the opportunity to contribute to the global community. We are looking for organisations that are passionate about fostering local talent and want to make a significant impact.
"We look forward to building partnerships in new regions and continuing to deliver high-quality training with the help of our trusted hosts."
