The upcoming RIPE meeting in Amsterdam will give plenty of opportunity for "community building" - interaction between the developers of various tools like RIPE Atlas and RIPEstat, and the users of these services. If you want to talk about TTM, DNSMON, K-root, RIPE Atlas Anchors, IPv6 Measurements... we are looking forward to meeting you there!

At RIPE 65 many RIPE NCC staff members will be there to meet with our community. We will talk about new developments in various technical areas. We will also present road maps to inform you of our plans, and collect community feedback on the priorities we should set.

We are also going to discuss several pilot services that were announced recently, for instance RIPE Atlas Anchors and "member instances" of K-root .

You can pick up your RIPE Atlas probes at the RIPE NCC Info Hub . If this is your first RIPE Meeting, please do not hesitate to contact the Meet & Greet team if you have any questions about any of our services and projects.

1. RIPEstat Demo – s2e06 ( BoF Session )

RIPEstat is a RIPE NCC service that provides users with an information on a specific Internet number resource (IP address, prefix or ASN) from a variety of data sources. The information is provided as visualisations which can be embedded on a website. Results are also available through a scriptable data API. The RIPEstat “toolbox” is developed in close cooperation with the RIPE community.

At this live demonstration we will reveal new features and report on ongoing development. This is a great opportunity for our users to share feedback directly with the developers and learn more about RIPEstat firsthand.

More information on RIPEstat .

Time: Monday, 24 September, 18:00 – 19:00

Room: Grand Ballroom I-III

Presented by: Christian Teuschel and Vesna Manojlovic, RIPE NCC

2. RIPE Atlas Users Meeting - User-Defined Measurements (UDM) and RIPE Atlas Anchors Bash ( BoF Session )

We are organising an interactive session to bring RIPE Atlas UDM users and beta-testers together in one room with RIPE Atlas developers and the Measurements Community Builder to discuss developments, exchange ideas and best practices, suggest improvements, etc.

This is also a great opportunity to learn more about the RIPE Atlas Anchors pilot project , how to get involved, learn about host requirements, features and more! Atlas Anchors will carry out part of the functionality currently offered by the Test Traffic Measurements service (TTM) and DNSmon, so if you are currently using one of those services, you are welcome to talk to us during this event.

For remote participation, please join the mailing list for Atlas Anchors Pilot Hosts .

Time: Tuesday, 25 September, 18:00 – 19:00

Room: Grand Ballroom I-III

Presented by: Vesna Manojlovic, RIPE NCC (and developers)

3. History view of DB objects as a member service in RIPEstat ( Database-WG )

RIPE NCC members can browse RIPE database objects with history in RIPEstat for a couple of weeks as a demonstration. Please check it out and let us know what you think. For more information, see Registration History - A Demo .

Time: Wednesday, 26 September, 09:00 – 10:30

Room: Grand Ballroom IV-V

Presented by: Daniel Karrenberg  and Vesna Manojlovic, RIPE NCC

4. RIPE NCC DNS Report & DNSMON Future ( DNS-WG )

The RIPE NCC will report about its DS activities. Escpecial attention will be given to the future of the DNSMON service. We will also cover the ENUM in this presentation, and K-root operations update.

Time: Wednesday, 26 September, 11:00 – 12:30

Room: Grand Ballroom IV-V

Presented by: Daniel Karrenberg & Romeo Zwart

5. An Update on IPv6 RIPEness: More Stars? ( IPv6 WG )

IPv6 RIPEness is a rating system that gives Local Internet Registries (LIRs) up to four "stars" depending on the IPv6 services they offer. The community asked us to  add a 5th star, taking user services into account. We will present a proposal for including a 5th star.

Time: Wednesday, 26 September, 14:00 – 15:30

Room: Grand Ballroom I-III

Presented by: Emile Aben, RIPE NCC

6. The New IPv6 CPE Survey ( IPv6-WG )

The RIPE NCC sent out a new survey to CPE vendors in order to receive updated data for the IPv6 CPE Information published on RIPE Labs earlier.

Time: Wednesday, 26 September, 14:00 – 15:30

Room: Grand Ballroom I-III

Presented by: Marco Hogewoning, RIPE NCC

7. RIPE NCC Report ( RIPE NCC Services WG )

The regular RIPE NCC report will also cover RIPEstat and RIPE Atlas, including Atlas Anchors , that will carry out part of the functionality of DNSmon and TTM. We will also present the proposal for K-root Servers in Member Networks .

Time: Wednesday, 26 September, 16:00 – 17:30

Room: Grand Ballroom I-III

Presented by: Axel Pawlik, RIPE NCC

8. IP Analyser API ( RIPE NCC Services WG )

A short description of the LIR Portal IP Analyser API .

9. RIPE NCC Measurements Services Update ( MAT-WG )

As always, we will give an update about all new developments since the last RIPE meeting, and present road maps for RIPEstat and RIPE Atlas. We will also cover the winding down of TTM. Discussion welcome.

Time: Thursday, 27 September, 16:00 – 17:30

Room: Grand Ballroom I-III

Presented by: Vesna Manojlovic, RIPE NCC

10. A Case Study of IPv6 /48 Filtering ( Routing-WG )

Due to prefix-filtering of /48's in IPv6 PA space, we saw roughly 1% out of ~500 RIPE Atlas probes that can't reach a destination in an IPv6 /48 prefix (without a covering shorter prefix). For more information, see A Case Study of IPv6 /48 Filtering

Time: Thursday, 27 September, 14:00 – 15:30

Room: Grand Ballroom I-III

Presented by: Emile Aben, RIPE NCC

(in addition to that, Robert Kisteleki will present more "Thought provoking measurements results using RIPE Atlas" in a lightning talk during Closing Plenary on Friday).

11. Using RIPEstat for prefix size filtering ( Routing-WG )

An alternative way of looking at the prefix size distribution in IPv4 and IPv6 blocks is now available in RIPEstat as an interactive widget. Tabular visualisation and cumulative percentage representation can be used for filtering based on minimum allocation size or for general research about the usage of address space.

For more information, see RIR Prefix Size Distribution in RIPEstat

Time: Thursday, 27 September, 14:00 – 15:30

Room: Grand Ballroom I-III

Presented by: Vasco Asturiano, RIPE NCC

12. Requesting feedback about RIPEstat abuse-contact-finder widget ( Anti-Abuse WG )

RIPEstat will include the "abuse-contact" information in the queries for IP space. We are looking for the input from Anti-Abuse Working Group.

Time: Thursday, 27 September, 14:00 – 15:30

Room: Grand Ballroom IV-V

Presented by: Vesna Manojlovic

Meet us there, live or on-line

If you will be at RIPE 65, now you know where to find us. You can also schedule an appointment for the private meeting, using the contact details on the attendees list.

For those who cannot be in Amsterdam in person, it is possible to participate remotely : we have video and audio streams, as well as live transcripts of what is being said. This system also allows you to comment via chat channels, which comments are then relayed to the room by a dedicated member of staff.

Or use Social Media: @Ms_Measurements on Twitter, and the RIPE Community group on LinkedIn.

... and of course, we will follow the Secret Working Group (or be followed by it?!), but I am not supposed to tell you anything about it, otherwise...
