A graduate of University College Dublin, the Dublin Institute of Technology and the London School of Economics, Maria Farrell has worked in technology policy for over twenty years, including at The World Bank, ICANN, the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris, the Confederation of British Industry and The Law Society of England and Wales. She has written for The Guardian, Conversationalist, New European, Slate, Medium, the Irish Times and Irish Independent, and appeared as a tech expert on BBC, Sky News, NBC and TRT.
Maria’s viral 2024 article "We need to rewild the internet", written with public interest technologist Robin Berjon, has been translated into three languages and was selected for the French magazine Philosophie's special edition of key ideas for 2025. It will be published in the 2025 anthology, "Best American Science and Nature Writing". Maria is now working on a full-length book titled "Rewild the Internet: This is How We Resist Big Tech".
