With just one week to go until RIPE 90 kicks off in Lisbon, here are some highlights and topics you can expect to be discussed at the meeting.
RIPE 90
The RIPE 90 Meeting in Lisbon is just a week away. You can still register and join us either in person or remotely. We currently have over 600 registrations. The agenda is almost complete (the various sessions are linked from the overall RIPE 90 meeting plan) and I am looking forward to many exciting topics and constructive discussions, both during the plenary and in the working groups.
After the opening, the meeting will kick off with two interesting presentations that will certainly encourage more discussions during the week: How to Rewild the Internet and How to start an ISP from Scratch.

There will also be a number of interesting BoF sessions, including one that will focus on the draft document on RIR Governance.
An important part of RIPE Meetings are opportunities to socialise with each other during coffee and lunch breaks and during the social events.
Newcomers and DEI
I would also like to draw your attention to the Diversity in Tech session where we will hear a proposal to form an accessibility advisory group. We will also have a discussion about what makes a successful mentorship programme. I would especially encourage newcomers to participate in this session. Other newcomers events are listed on the RIPE 90 website.
Childcare
Please note that we will offer childcare again for RIPE 90. You can still register for it.
RIPE Code of Conduct Team
The term of three members of the CoC Team (Cynthia Revström, Franziska Lichtblau and Randy Bush) ended before RIPE 90. According to the appointment criteria, they can serve two consecutive terms. I am happy to announce that all three agreed to continue for a second term. All team members will be available at RIPE 90.
We are always looking for additional team members. If you are interested or if you have any questions about the role please contact the RIPE Chair Team or any of the CoC Team members.
RIPE Leadership
A number of community leadership roles are currently open:
Programme Committee
There are currently two seats up for election to the RIPE PC. Nominations can be sent from 6 - 13 May. More information can be found on the RIPE 90 PC web pages.
RIPE WG co-chairs
Three WGs are in the process of selecting new co-chairs:
- Address Policy WG
- DNS WG
- IoT WG
Candidates have been announced and you can provide feedback on the respective WG mailing lists. The final selection will then take place during RIPE 90.
RIPE Chair Team
The call for nominees is closed and all nominees have been announced. The Nominating Committee is now seeking feedback about the candidates and will have office hours during RIPE 90. More information about the process, the work of the NomCom and the candidates can be found on the RIPE NomCom 2025 website.
Industry events
INEX: In March Niall participated in the INEX meeting in Dublin.

RIPE NCC Executive Board meeting: End of March I attended the RIPE NCC executive board meeting and reported from recent developments in the RIPE community and the planning for the upcoming RIPE Meetings.
SEE 13: Early April I participated in the 13th South East European Meeting (SEE 13). It was great meeting with lots of interaction (you can see the venue in the background on the image to the right). I was particularly impressed by the number of newcomers and the way they engaged with each other during the meeting.
RIPE NCC Open House on Updating ICP-2: On 29 April both Niall and Mirjam attended an online session on updating ICP-2 where our RIPE selected ASO Address Council members presented the Draft RIR Governance document. I usually also dial into the regular calls by the ASO Address Council.
Upcoming events
ICANN 83: In June I am planning to attend the ICANN 83 Policy Forum in Prague.
TNC25: During the same week Niall is planning to participate at TNC25 which will take place in Brighton this year with the theme "Brighter Together".
Later this summer, I will be at the Internet Governance Forum 2025 in Lillestrøm, Norway and at the IETF 123 in Madrid.
