Nuestra casa es su casa

As the Netherlands has gone into a partial lockdown, I am writing to you from the comfort of my bedroom in the attic - two floors away from where my husband is trying to homeschool our kids. A moment of blissful silence.

We are living in interesting times. Within a matter of weeks, our world has pretty much turned upside down. It started with us canceling a few RIPE NCC training courses to now, two weeks later, all of us being quarantined at home.

But work continues!

We have always striven to deliver first class service to our members and we’re not going to stop. Being sent home and not being able to travel does not mean that we can’t educate, learn, share, and grow. The Internet is stronger than ever. A crucial platform that will connect us, socially and professionally.

So what will we be doing in the coming weeks?

Well, this week we delivered our very first course from home! Our colleagues Alvaro Vives and Pedro Vaz delivered an amended version of the RIPE Database course online to a group of participants in Bahrain.

And we will not stop here!

We are currently very busy converting our training material into blocks of two-hour online modules. Slightly extended webinars, if you will.

In the coming weeks we will announce the schedule and you will be able to register for these live online learning modules.

I do have to ask for your understanding - we will be delivering these live sessions from our homes. You are likely to be confronted with unexpected and unplanned circumstances - kids and pets are notoriously fast, and experts at interfering. So expect some guest appearances, unforeseen technical issues, far from professional sound quality, bookcase backgrounds and the odd dropped connection. We do what we can in the current circumstances.

Aside from these live training sessions, you can also find online learning material on the RIPE NCC Academy. We have the brand new RIPE Database course there, and are working on more content to be released in the next few months.

And finally, for some exciting news: we’re launching the RIPE NCC Certified Professionals Programme in the coming weeks! So not only will you be able to learn, but you will also be able to show off what you’ve learned (or already knew) and get certified!

Watch this space for more announcements.

In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy, and most of all, stay connected.
